From approximately 1920 until the early 1960’s, the Methodist Church in Virginia operated an orphanage farm and children’s camp in western New Kent county.  Since the time of the farm’s closing, much of the original farm has been divided and sold.  The “Orphanage House” is the largest original structure still in existence, and has been continuously occupied by the Elbourn family for over 50 years.
